Tell Your Senators to Vote NO on the Keystone XL Pipeline!

In early January, the House approved the Keystone XL Pipeline. The Senate is now debating it unnamedand may approve it, but not with the super-majority that would be needed to survive President Obama’s veto.

Some senators are holding out against the pipeline but may be swayed by attempts to sweeten the pot with riders—for example, to raise the minimum wage a bit. Tell your senators today to reject the Keystone XL Pipeline, no matter how nice the riders may look. This pipeline is not negotiable!

The Keystone XL Pipeline would send 830,000 barrels of tar sands oil per day to the Gulf Coast for refining and potential export. Dr. James Hansen, leading climatologist, says that extracting unconventional fuels such as the tar sands is “game over” for climate change. Building infrastructure that makes this extraction easier and faster takes our planet past a tipping point in climate change from which there is no return. We must insist instead on creating jobs and economic opportunities through development of sustainable energy.

Fossil fuels are not the answer. There is a better way!
