Notes from the Riverkeepers–Hood River performance

October 4, 2017 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm

This show is really incredible. Portland musician Holcombe Waller brings his performance to the Gorge on October 3 (Mosier) and October 4 (Hood River).

At the Seattle show last week, an excited audience member told me, “This is amazing–it’s like Hamilton for oil trains.”

With humor, soul music and spoken word, Holcombe begins with the creation of oil in the Devonian Period and travels in time up to the Mosier derailment. I know you’re curious. He also gives the best description of the Missoula floods and the formation of the Gorge I’ve ever heard (involves drums).

Hope you can make it. The musicians have agreed to a sliding scale for the Gorge so pay what you’d like.

AND CELEBRATE… let’s raise a toast afterwards to the downfall of coal export! On Tuesday, the State of Washington rejected the Millennium coal export terminal, which would have sent eight full coal trains through the Gorge every day. Many local voices, including the Columbia Gorge Climate Action Network, played a key role in stopping coal trains. Come celebrate with friends.

We will have a celebration party immediately after the Hood River show, 8:30 pm, at Columbia Center for the Arts and continuing at other local establishments in downtown Hood River on the evening of  October 4. Cash bar. Come for the oil train show and stay for the celebration or just come to the party afterwards.
