4 PM Columbia Gorge Climate Change Advocacy

April 24, 2020 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Columbia Gorge Climate Change Advocacy

The Columbia River Gorge Commission is the regional land use agency for all Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area lands except for property inside Gorge Cities.  How does one engage with the Gorge Commission to help protect the National Scenic Area and what is the Gorge Commission currently doing to address global warming?

Ryan Rittenhouse, Conservation Organizer with Friends of the Columbia Gorge, will address this topic and provide ideas and suggestions on ways to interact with the Gorge Commission and help preserve our national treasure, the Columbia River Gorge.

Two-Day Gorge Commission Meeting Later This Month

Many species, such as salmon, face dire threats from the increasing severity of climate change. The Gorge Commission needs to hear from the public about what you prioritize and how you want them to change. Climate change adaptation should be their main priority.

During our webinar on April 24, we will also talk about an upcoming two-day, online meeting that the Gorge Commission will be hosting this month to compensate for their lack of a meeting in March. They are holding this extended meeting to try and accomplish more for their Gorge 2020 Management Plan Review, which is supposed to be concluded this year. This two-day meeting will be on Tuesday, April 28 and Wednesday, April 29.

What: Gorge Commission 2 Day Meeting
When: 9 a.m.-4 p.m., April 28-29
Where: Gorge Commission Zoom (registration links will be sent out closer to the webinar date and should be available during our webinar on Friday, April 24).
