9 – 1 PM, Columbia River Gorge Commission meeting
April 28, 2020 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
The Columbia River Gorge Commission will hold a two-day, online meeting this Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 AM until 1 PM, focusing on changes to how the Gorge will be protected. The Gorge Commission needs to hear from the public about what you prioritize and how you want them to change.
For three years the Commission Staff assured the public that climate change policies would be an overarching priority, but they have so far failed to propose one single climate policy. Instead, the Commission staff continues to focus on expanding commercial uses in the National Scenic Area and facilitating urban expansion. For example, stream buffers along many salmon-bearing streams are woefully out of date and don’t represent the best available science. Meanwhile endangered salmon die every year due to the Commission’s failure to provide better protection for salmon habitat. Climate is on the agenda for the Wednesday meeting, click here for meeting agendas and handouts.
Registration for each day is separate and must be completed for the day(s) you want to participate
Register for Tuesday, April 28 Register for Wednesday, April 29
The Gorge Commission is hosting this two-day meeting to compensate for a canceled March meeting and to accomplish more for their Gorge 2020 Management Plan Review, which is supposed to be concluded this year.
