Vancouver Energy Recommendation Meeting in Olympia

November 28, 2017 @ 1:30 pm - 5:00 pm

The Final EIS for the Vancouver Energy project has been released. Washington Energy Facility Site Evaluation Council (EFSEC) identified at least four significant impacts that cannot be mitigated. This should require denial of the project:

1) Seismic-related risks at the terminal site
2) Traffic fatalities and injuries from increased oil train traffic
3) Emergency response delays
4) Impacts to environmental justice communities related to emergency response delays and oil train traffic

The FEIS also acknowledges that a large oil train fire or oil spill would have significant impacts that cannot be mitigated. Here’s the date and location of the next EFSEC meeting to deliberate and issue the recommendation to the Governor. This is it folks, keep fingers crossed!

November 28, 2017, 1:30 PM – 5PM
John B Cherberg Building, Capitol Campus
Senate Hearing Room #4
304 15th Ave SW, Olympia, WA 98501

This meeting will be livestreamed by TVW. A link will be provided to the broadcast when it is available. No public comment will be taken.
